“No you do not need to clean your glasses this is a real event, and possibly one of the funniest on the calendar”
I frequently get asked “Are there any local events coming up?” Well folks this is it. It does not get any more Savoyard than this, Cows come from far and wide to get a chance to be crowned Queen Cow. French cows from the Haute Savoie, Swiss cows from Vallais and not to forget some real Italian bruisers. They all get sorted out into size and weight before entering the “ring”, once put into categories the cows normally 5-10 at a time are lead into the ring by some proud farmers. The cow knows it needs to perform other wise it could fall victim to the French love of Steak Haché! Unfortunately cows quite like eating grass or just chilling in the afternoon sun, so therefore precariously the farmers will intervene to pull the cows together in order to get a reaction. Then these placid beasts bang heads till one of them surrenders and therefore disqualified, this goes on all day through the different weight categories till left with just two stubborn cows. Then a new queen is sworn in! Local food stands pump out a great selection of tasty treats through-out the day, with Wine and Génépi on tap!
