The Panoramic Mont Blanc will stay closed until Spring 2019.

The Mont Blanc panoramic gondola that suffered major damage during storm Eleanor will stay out of use for yet another year.  Back in January the cables of the Gondola broke free from their pulleys, which resulted in serous damage to the Mont Blanc panoramic as it plummeted 10+ meters onto the glacier floor.  Work is well under way with large sections of the old cable already cut up and removed from the glacier, understandably some cable will remain as its already too deeply entombed in ice.  The new cable alone weighs in at a whopping 18 tons, thus the need for the powerful Russian made Kamov helicopter.

Lets wish the guys and girls good luck in this huge project.
