Yesterday the Montenvers train that leaves from Chamonix centre and leads up the icy Mer De Glace has derailed!
Fortunately no one was hurt and a back up train arrived to take the passengers back down to the valley floor, this has happened a handful of times over the last five years but what with a top speed of 14klm its generally more frustrating than dangerous. One of Team Planets secret sources can confirm it most likely occurred due to a faulty coupling, as the incident happened where the two trains pass each other when in high season.
