Yesterday, a man from Thonon Haute Savoie fell 20 meters while climbing at the Gaillands climbing wall.
The 53 year old was a regular climber when on vacation here in Chamonix.
An investigation by the PGHM is underway but first impressions are that there was an error with his belay set up resulting in a 20 meter fall with his rope.
The climber suffered serious head trauma, dislocation of the hip and fracture of the elbow. However he is stable and responsive, the climber was rushed to Annecy hospital by the PGHM helicopter.
