Two people both in their thirties lost their lives in the Chamonix Valley last Monday, April 30th.
The first took place in the early hours of the morning, in the Couturier couloir, on the Aiguille Verte. A 35-year-old man from Annecy died “because of extreme weather conditions,” the Chamonix PGHM reported last night.
The second fatal accident took place on the Glacier Rond, on the west face of the Aiguille du Midi. An avalanche broke free when a group of four French skiers released a large windblown slab. Three escaped with their lives, but sadly the fourth skier, a 35-year-old man has died.
The PGHM was called out again yesterday to the Grands Montets ski resort to help a 34-year-old skier after he collapsed. The man was Mede-vaced to the hospital near Geneva.
